STOCK PARTS?

NASCAR race tires cost about $389 ea., are only filled with nitrogen, and last a maximum of 150 miles. Normal street tires last around 50k miles.

All those expensive "stock" parts add up raising the price of a stock car to about $150,000.

Sponsorships give the race car drivers & teams the luxury of disposable performance parts. Drivers also make upwards of $10 million/year in endorsements alone.

Stock cars are usually outfitted with upgraded stock parts from domestic companies. Dodge makes the motors. Ford or Chevy build the chassis.

Stock cars are so dangerously fast they must be equipped with a custom roll cage, no doors, and 5-point safety harness seatbelt... basically an adult baby seat.

Stock cars can reach speeds in excess of 220 mph (322 km/h) with the fastest one hitting 244 mph (394 km/h). The only production cars that can hit that speed cost upwards of $200k.
